I’ve been wearing Brooks running shoes for as long as I can remember. The brand’s Adrenaline sneaker is amazing at fixing my rolling ankles, pronating feet and naturally awkward gait. It’s asking a lot of a shoe, but years of testing have proved that the model is more than up to the task.
In order to stop my Adrenalines from breaking down too quickly, I only wear them while running and keep a separate pair for walking. It’s a great tactic that extends the life of my shoes and lets me experiment with new styles and colors. I’ve tried Hokas (not for me), Asics (a great fit for my feet) and, more recently, the newest iteration of one of Brooks’ bestselling sneakers: the Glycerin 22s.
Brooks Glycerin 22 Running Shoes
Brooks
After weeks of wear, I can safely say that this shoe is stable enough to keep my limbs in check and cushioned enough to keep my feet feeling fresh all day long. Considering my propensity to roll, I went with the GTS (Go-To-Support) model. This version employs the brand’s GuideRails technology to pad my ankles and keep them from doing what they shouldn’t, but if your gait is more normal than mine, the neutral Glycerin 22s are likely a better pick for you.
Regardless of support level, the whole Glycerin line went through quite the revamp. Brooks engineers replaced the DNA Loft v3 design that was a hallmark of the 21s with a new-and-improved technology called DNA Tuned. All this means is that there are larger cells in the heel for maximum comfort and smaller cells in the front for quick toe-offs. The combination leads to a cushioned shoe that’s lightweight and supportive.
Eating Well
I’m far too attached to my Adrenalines to even consider replacing them during long runs, but the brand’s Glycerin 22s have easily become my new favorite walking shoes. When I factor in their five cute color options and the fact that my feet have rarely ever felt so comfortable, I can see myself buying this model for years to come. They’re worth the $165 price tag.
