Key Takeaways
- Wendy’s is adding three, all-new exclusive flavors to its Coca-Cola Freestyle machines.
- The three flavors will remain a Wendy’s-exclusive until the product hits shelves in July.
While maybe not thought of as a core menu item, the beverages at fast food restaurants are almost as important as the food itself. As customers are becoming more drink-obsessed, fast food chains are leaning into new sips that will keep fans coming back for more.
Some chains are launching proprietary drinks, such as Burger King’s new Nerds candy-topped frozen beverage, Chick-fil-A’s Icedream Spin and Float, or McDonald’s homemade lemonade, while others are leveraging their soda partnerships to get ahead. Mountain Dew Baja Blast is synonymous with Taco Bell, KFC is known for its Mountain Dew Sweet Lightning, and now Wendy’s is adding an exclusive lineup to its Coca-Cola Freestyle machines.
Wendy’s Adds Exclusive Powerade Flavors to Its Coca-Cola Freestyle Machines
As the weather warms up, not only do you want a beverage to keep you cool, but maybe also to replenish those electrolytes lost while playing in the sun or swimming at the beach. Now, you’ll have three new ways to rehydrate at Wendy’s.
The fast food chain is adding three all-new, exclusive Powerade flavors to its Freestyle fountain.
Wendy’s
This summer, Wendy’s is adding new Powerade Extra Sour Cherry Kicker, Powerade Extra Sour Grape Shocker, and Powerade Extra Sour Peach Pucker to its soda fountains. As the name suggests, the fruity sports drinks are extra sour, adding a tart twist to your go-to Powerade.
Powerade Extra Sour Cherry Kicker features tart cherries with sweet, ripe notes. Powerade Extra Sour Grape Shocker adds a sour punch to classic grape flavor. And Powerade Extra Sour Peach Pucker features juicy, sweet peach flavor with mouth-puckering flair.
Powerade Extra Sour’s three flavors are available in full sugar and sugar-free options at Wendy’s restaurants now.
The three new flavors will debut exclusively at Wendy’s nationwide; however, they’ll eventually hit retailer shelves and more Coca-Cola Freestyle machines this July. But, even after Powerade releases bottles of its new Extra Sour sports drink, the sugar-free varieties of Cherry Kicker, Grape Shocker, and Peach Pucker will remain Wendy’s exclusives.
We know it may be hard to choose between the sour sports drink and Wendy’s new Frosty Fusions to wash down your meal, but think of it this way: the new Powerade will keep you hydrated while you eat ,and the Frosty Fusions will keep you happy after you finish your meal.
But let’s face it, the Frosty is basically a condiment for your fries rather than a drink or dessert, anyway, so you deserve both.
